In Wiccan tradition, Yule is a celebration of the winter solstice and the return of the sun. It is a time to gather with loved ones and enjoy festive foods that honor the season. Wiccan yule delicacies are often made with ingredients that are believed to bring warmth and luck into the home. One popular dish is wassail, a hot, spiced apple cider that is often enjoyed during Yule. Wassail is made by simmering apple cider with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and other warm spices. In 2008, they built a giant addition onto the back of the flower shop space the Greenhouse, they called it, because the room was where a greenhouse for the flower shop had once stood tripling their square footage. Among the staff there were usually half a dozen writers, and we would all joke about it which one of us would write the sitcom, the short story, the novel inspired by the store s owners, and the rest of us, all of us with our own hilarious storylines.

Things to Do
You can hike, backpack, camp, rock climb, picnic, bird, study nature, geocache and stargaze. (You cannot swim here or ride bikes on the trails.)
Hiking

- All trails close 30 minutes after sunset, except the Loop Trail.

Pets
To protect this Natural Area, pets are only allowed in the designated day-use picnic areas, the campgrounds, and on the Loop Trail (pets are not allowed on any other trail). Don't leave pets unattended, including in vehicles and at campsites, and keep them on a leash no longer than six feet at all times.
Shopping
Our park store carries some gift items. You can buy wood for campfires at the park. Please bring your own drinking water, as it is in short supply due to the ongoing drought.

We arrived in waves—Chad, Adam, Brisa, Molly, me, Andrew, Maryam. Jack came back after some years away. Glenn, a Brit. Lauren became the new Molly. Christien became the new Chad. Laura and Martha got fired for no reason. Stephen couldn’t have been fired if he set the building on fire. Steve, my favorite employee, came to BookCourt from the funeral parlor down the block, where he also did odd jobs. He packed up the cardboard boxes and wore an FDNY fleece and protested for years when the store cat went to go live with Henry after befouling a stroller or two.
