Orlando, Fla. – As part of the Orlando Magic and AdventHealth's continuing commitment to health and wellness, the DeVos family, Magic and AdventHealth unveiled today the state-of-the-art AdventHealth Training Center. The new downtown facility will serve as the training site for the Orlando Magic and a destination sports medicine hub to Central Florida.

Together, AdventHealth and the Orlando Magic continue to build an innovative health and wellness model that brings whole-person medicine, science and research together to optimize sports performance, bringing those learnings to the broader community.

"We share in the excitement of this facility and our desire that it becomes a true 'win-win' for Central Florida and the Magic," said Orlando Magic Chairman Dan DeVos. "We believe when this community succeeds, we all succeed. With health and wellness being a priority to a successful life, we look forward to seeing this center contribute to achieving that for both our community and our team."

The center, one block from Amway Center, boasts 130,000-square-feet located on a nearly four-acre site at South Division Avenue and West Central Boulevard. The $70 million facility marks the latest investment in the Parramore community.

The Magic’s portion of the center is designed to optimize performance and provide world-class recovery space. A large team "living room" acts as the facility’s hub, complete with enhanced nutrition offerings and a full kitchen. The facility also includes two full-size courts overlooked by an elevated viewing balcony. Leading training and recovery technologies, including an altitude chamber and hydrotherapy offerings as well as an expansive locker room with high-end finishes, will elevate the player experience. Partners featured in and around the building include Verizon, Altitude International, Violet Defense, Volta Charging, Jani-King. Each partner provides a unique aspect, enhancing the state-of-the-art experience and commitment to health and wellness.

Additional design elements include covered exterior patios and decks, a creatively landscaped outdoor team space and indoor/outdoor training space to capitalize on Orlando’s warm climate. The facility will also include front office and hospitality spaces that celebrate the Orlando Magic’s brand and history.

AdventHealth’s 33,300-square-foot medical hub – designed for elite athletes, as well as youth athletes and weekend warriors – provides world-class, multi-discipline medicine with a focus on whole-person health and sports science. Services will include orthopedics, primary care, sports medicine, imaging, rehabilitation and sports performance. Patients will also have access to AdventHealth’s network of sports-trained gastroenterologists, cardiologists, sleep, psychology and nutrition experts.

The project incorporates sustainable design strategies including daylighting and strategic sun shading, stormwater management, and advanced mechanical and lighting systems and controls.

The Orlando Magic and AdventHealth also furthered its commitment to Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) with the awarding of $17 million of design and construction contracts for the project to 33 local MWBEs. That amount represented approximately 32 percent of awarded opportunities, which is over the city's recommended 24 percent MWBE participation.

The facility was designed by HOK, with Balfour Beatty serving as the construction manager.

ORLANDO, Fla. — On Wednesday, the Orlando Magic unveiled a new 130,000-square-foot practice facility that will serve as the official training site for the team. The organization held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local leaders and several high-ranking team officials, including chairman Dan DeVos, CEO Alex Martins and president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman among others. Located one block from the Amway Center, where the team plays its home games, the $70 million facility opens just in time for the 2022-23 season. The team will begin practicing in the building in the coming days with training camp set to begin on Sept. 27. “We did our research and toured the other facilities in the league and some NFL facilities,” Martins said. “I think everything that our players need to prepare, rehab, recoup and keep them from getting injured are here. It is everything that we would have hoped for and more.” The AdventHealth Training Facility includes two full-size courts and two additional shooting goals for 21,000 square feet of room for practice and other related on-court activities; the team has 6,000 square feet of court space in the Amway Center. The building offers leading training and recovery technologies, including an altitude chamber and a hydro area with hot and cold plunges. Players will have the opportunity to utilize the family room, featuring a nutrition bar and full kitchen. The players’ expansive locker room features walk-in lockers with high-end finishes. Nearby the locker room, players have the opportunity to unwind and recover with a floating pod, nap rooms and massage suites. It is also equipped with a barber shop “I’ve never seen anything like this,” Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. said. “I’ve been to all of the practice facilities of other NBA teams but when I came in here, it was like, ‘Man!’ Everything we need is here: Pool, smoothie station, parking facility, etc. I feel like it is everything we need, for sure.” Here is an inside look at the newest training facility in the NBA.

Practice Courts

The facility includes two full-size courts and two additional shooting goals for 21,000 square feet of room for practice and other related on-court activities; the team has 6,000 square feet of court space in the Amway Center.

High-tech Cameras

The court area is equipped with high-tech cameras that can give the coaching staff and players a look at practices and other related activities from above in film sessions.

Located just off the practice court, the indoor training space includes a force plate, traditional weight racks, Keiser strength machines and a medicine ball wall among other amenities.

I was left feeling unsatisfied and regretful of the time and money I invested in this training.
