Painting our Guest Bathroom with Valspar

Our house is a hot mess because we’re under construction again! We’ve got our guest bathroom demo’d out and we’re so excited to create a nice relaxing space for our guests. We’re still waiting on on some of our plumbing fixtures to arrive so we can get everything roughed in, but in the meantime while we’re waiting, it’s painting time!

We decided to go with Valspar’s Signature Ultra White for the walls in our bathroom. When designing out the space, we knew we wanted to go with a white paint color because we have so much else going on in the small space and our color scheme is black and white with pops of gold and wood tones.

The reason we chose the Valspar Signature is because the satin sheen stands up against anything…like a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old. Since this is our main level bathroom, it is our bathroom with the highest traffic. It’s also right off the mudroom, so with two toddlers that are always coming in and out from playing outside, we never know what they are bringing into the bathroom. The Valspar Signature sheen is best for moderate to high traffic areas and easy to clean!

Another favorite thing about this brand of paint is that it’s a paint and primer all in one, so no need for us to prime to cover up the beige before we get to painting our walls white.

Can’t wait to show you the fully finished space in Ultra White instead of this beige. We’re 1/2 way done painting the space, and it’s already looking so much brighter, bigger and cleaner. For now, here’s a peek at our design that we’re taking from that to this…

We also decided to do black crown molding, which will be a first for us! So we love how the Valspar Ultra White will make a sharp contrast from that as well.

HOW TO USE

Use Valspar Duramax Exterior Paint on properly prepared exterior wood and metal siding and trim including hardboard, fiber cement board, vinyl, primed metal, shakes, brick, cement, cinder block and stucco. Do not use on glazed brick, floors or steps.

Thoroughly clean the surface and allow to dry. Remove all dirt, dust, chalk, rust, grease, wax and mildew.

Stir thoroughly and intermix multiple containers. Apply only when paint, surface and air temperatures are 35–90 °F (7–32 °C) during application and drying time. Do not paint if temperatures are expected to be below 35 °F (7 °C) within 48 hours of application or when heavy dew or precipitation is expected in the next 12 hours. These recommendations are a starting point only. Due to variability in sprayers, we recommend testing your spray pattern and flow before proceeding. Always paint back into freshly painted areas and end up at a door, window or outer edge. Move windows after 1 hour to prevent sticking.

Clean up with warm, soapy water. Do not freeze. Keep container closed when not in use. Do not transfer contents to other containers for storage or disposal. In case of spills, absorb with inert material such as sand or kitty litter. Dispose of empty container or unused portion in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

- Jane - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the Black Magic Interior Multi Surface Detaiter. It claims to clean and protect surfaces, but it didn't do a very good job on my car interior. The product left behind streaks and smudges, and I had to go over the surfaces multiple times to get them clean. It also didn't seem to provide any additional protection or shine. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this product.

- Mike - 1 star - I had high hopes for the Black Magic Interior Multi Surface Detaiter, but it failed to meet my expectations. The product had a strong chemical smell that was overwhelming and gave me a headache. In terms of performance, it did a mediocre job at best. It didn't effectively clean or restore surfaces, and I ended up having to use another cleaner to get the results I wanted. Save your money and look for a better alternative.
