HeroQuest: Return of the Witch Lord is an expansion pack for the popular board game HeroQuest, released in 1991 by Milton Bradley and Games Workshop. This expansion adds new content and challenges for players to enjoy. The story of Return of the Witch Lord follows the events of the original game. The Witch Lord, a powerful and evil sorcerer, has risen once again and seeks to wreak havoc upon the world. It is up to the heroes to defeat him and save the day. In this expansion, players have access to new quests, new enemies, and new items.

This Halloween, discover 10 options for safe trick-or-treating and other family-friendly celebrations across the Las Vegas Valley.

Boo-tacular

Chuck E. Cheese hosts games, goodies, free game play for kids in costume, a new show and candy provided by Chupa Chups starting at 6:00 p.m. every night now through Oct. 31.

Visit Chuck E. Cheese in costume on Friday and Saturday for a chance to compete and win prizes in the 7 p.m. costume contest, judged by Chuck E. himself.

Chuck E. Cheese will open two hours early on Halloween morning for a sensory-friendly experience. Sugar-free candy will be provided for kids in costume.

Haunted in the Desert

Oct. 28 through Oct. 30

Haunted In the Desert returns for another year. An old western ghost town comes alive for a spook-tacular drive-thru experience that is fun for all ages from 6 to 9 p.m. for three nights. No tricks — just treats! Free souvenir bag of candy for children under 12.

Haunted Harvest

If you love Halloween but have little ones or just really don’t want to mingle with goblins and ghouls, you won’t want to miss the Haunted Harvest at Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd. From 5 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday, it’ll be packed with themed trick-or-treat stations, street vendors with ghostly grub, live entertainment and activities. It’s all outdoors and at reduced capacity, and masks, Halloween and otherwise, are recommended (although no full-face masks for those 18 and older). Tickets, $9, will be sold only in advance, and only online. Parking is free, with overflow at Meadows Mall. 333 S. Valley View Blvd. springspreserve.org

HallowReef

Celebrate spooky season at Shark Reef Aquarium’s “Hallow Reef” at Mandalay Bay from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The exhibit (3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South) will transform into an interactive Halloween experience adding tricks and treats at every corner, welcoming all ghouls and goblins to show off their Halloween spirit with the most unique land and sea creatures.

Admission is $5.00 at the Shark Reef Aquarium Box Office for children 12 years old and under donning a costume and complimentary trick or treating candy is available.

Children must be accompanied by a ticketed adult and reservations are recommended in advance.

Hat-trick-or-treat

The UNLV Skatin’ Rebels are skating into Halloween weekend with hat-trick or treat celebrations at City National Arena.

Trunk or Treat in the City National Arena parking lot is 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with complimentary snacks, food and drinks, costume contests and official Rebel Hockey merchandise giveaways.

Safe-tacular and BOOster Seat Bonanza

The Annual Halloween Safe-tacular and BOOster Seat Bonanza returns to UMC Children’s Hospital (800 Hope Place) on October 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The festive, trunk-or-treat style event will offer goodie bags with treats while supplies last as well as pedestrian safety gear and education.

In addition to Halloween treats, free child booster seats will be available for qualifying families while supplies last on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be present to qualify.

Fergusons Downtown

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fergusons Downtown (1028 E. Fremont St.), Future Makers and Tofu Tees will host trick-or-treat bag crafts, a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt, face painting, and more. A donation of $10 is suggested.

Town Scary

Town Square turns Town SCARY and children of all ages are invited to bring bags or baskets and trick-or-treat at participating stores and restaurants from 4 to 7 p.m. Event is free.

Halloween Ghost Walk

The District will host its annual Halloween Ghost Walk sponsored by Mix 94.1 from 4 to 7 p.m. on Main Street by The Courtyard at The District (2240 Village Walk Dr.)

Dress up for an evening filled with trick-or-treating, costume contests, and spooktacular jams.

Participating retailers will be waiting with bowls full of candy so be sure to stop by every one of them!

Container Park

Container Park welcomes costumed kids for an evening of trick-or-treating.

Guests can go tenant-to-tenant for special gifts and candy from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a complimentary sunset screening on The Lawn of “Hocus Pocus.”

Celebrate Día de los Muertos with mariachi entertainment from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. provided by the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts.

In this expansion, players have access to new quests, new enemies, and new items. The quests in Return of the Witch Lord are designed to be challenging and require strategic thinking and teamwork to complete. Players must explore dungeons, battle monsters, and solve puzzles to progress through the game.

Day Habilitation

Opportunity Village believes that people with intellectual disabilities and their families should be in control when it comes to where and how they are served. We provide rehabilitation options to suit different needs and levels of care.
We have two care options available:

  • PRIDE: serves people with very profound physical and intellectual disabilities who require 24-hour care and supervision; and
  • Enable: supports people with severe intellectual and physical disabilities, allowing each to participate in a variety of activities and rehabilitative initiatives.

Pre-Vocational Services

We help people learn job and life skills, find employment, earn a living and take advantage of creative opportunities to lead more integrated lives. If you live in the Las Vegas area, a great place to start is with our range of Pre-Vocational Services, including:

  • Campus-based Training: tailored coaching that focuses on building job and life skills.
  • Pathway to Work: community-based on-the-job training utilizing paid work experience to become job ready.
  • Entry: starter program with the outcome of transitioning into advanced vocational training programs or obtaining a wage-paying job.
  • Career Exploration Program: a community-based on-the-job training program with class time instruction.

Each program provides the framework to build life and job skills, on-the-job training, paid work experience, and a pathway to pride, purpose, and a paycheck.

Employment Services

Our tailored employment services focus on breaking down barriers preventing individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities from finding and keeping employment. In our experience, we often find simple modifications or accommodations are needed. Then a person with a disability can perform their job functions at the same level as a person without disabilities.

  • Job Discovery Program: delivers on-the-job training, ensuring positive outcomes for the employee and employer. We developed a teaching, placing and coaching framework to boost confidence and increase employability skills – both the worker and business benefit. It’s a win-win!
  • Assessments: if you are helping your loved one find their first job or aren’t sure what job would be suitable, we can help. For over 10 years, our Assessments team has evaluated job readiness in Southern Nevada.

We work with the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Clark County School District and several other community partners. So, if you are connected to other services, it can be a simple step to our Assessments area.

Youth & Student Services

Giving young people the tools to opportunities to grow and learn is a vital step in improving the future outcomes of those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We have three types of assistance available:

  • Autism Treatment and Assistance Program (ATAP): designed to assist parents and caregivers with the funding to pay for Autism specific treatment for their loved ones. ATAP funds evidence-based practices that have been proven effective by empirical data.
  • Very Important Arts (VIA) Program: provides opportunities for artistic expression in art, music, dance, and more for children with disabilities ages 3-22. Students learn from qualified Music and Movement Mentors.
  • Job Discovery Program: a work-readiness program operated jointly by Opportunity Village and the Clark County School District. The program helps students with disabilities referred for vocational training in a natural working environment with the outcome of being competitively employed.
Arts & Recreation

Our arts and recreation programs encourage creative and performing arts activities for people of all levels of ability – and it’s a chance to have loads of fun. Whether you are interested in honing fine and performing arts skills or enjoying our fully accessible playground for adults, we have something for everyone.

  • Fine & Performing Arts: promotes self-expression, social interaction and the development of peer relationships through various art forms. The program aims to increase people’s awareness of the arts, support their creative passions and offer individualized and group training.
  • Sean’s Park: an accessible and inclusive playground set over 2.5 acres for local Southern Nevadans with intellectual disabilities to enjoy. It’s a space for building relationships, spending time with peers, developing hobbies, having fun, and learning new skills
Heroqesr return of the witch lord

One of the key features of this expansion is the addition of the Witch Lord himself as a new villain. He is a formidable foe, with powerful spells and abilities that pose a great threat to the heroes. Players must use their wits and resources effectively to overcome his challenges and finally defeat him. Additionally, Return of the Witch Lord introduces new enemy types, such as the Hexers and the Skeletons. These enemies have unique abilities and require different strategies to defeat. - Jane - 2 stars - I was really excited to read "Heroqesr Return of the Witch Lord" as I loved the first book in the series. However, I was extremely disappointed with this sequel. The story felt rushed and poorly developed, with many plot holes and inconsistencies. The characters lacked depth and I found it hard to connect with them. Overall, it was a letdown and I wouldn't recommend it to fans of the first book.
- Mark - 3 stars - "Heroqesr Return of the Witch Lord" had a promising premise, but I found the execution to be lacking. The pacing was off, with the story dragging in some parts and rushing through others. The dialogue felt forced and unnatural, making it difficult to get into the story. Additionally, the ending was underwhelming and left me unsatisfied. While it had its moments, I can't say that I enjoyed this book as much as I had hoped.
- Sarah - 2 stars - I had high hopes for "Heroqesr Return of the Witch Lord" but sadly it fell short for me. The writing style was choppy and hard to follow at times, which made it difficult to stay engaged in the story. The characters were one-dimensional and lacked depth, making it hard to connect with them. The plot had potential, but it was poorly executed and left me feeling confused. Overall, I was disappointed with this book and wouldn't recommend it.
