The author manages to add a 4th character to the book with the setting. Her descriptions of the Northern Carolina coastline were atmospheric and extremely creepy in parts. Dark twisty roads, damp and dangerous beach caves and just enough of a small town setting to give you that eerie vibe. Her descriptive writing of both the setting and of magic had me gripped from early on in the book, and there were definite ‘heart beating out of my chest’ moments thanks to the atmosphere her writing created.
Each girl has their own trauma they are trying to deal with Dan is depressed, depressed enough to hurt herself, she longs for happiness and some semblance of normality but doesn t know if she deserves it, or if she would even notice it if it hit her in the face. Together the best friends hope their discovery of the mysterious Black Book in the giveaway box outside a grocery store will fill their inner voids, offering them an irresistible spell for becoming witches and other magical charms, each promising to be one that will change their lives for the better.

1. Melissa - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Watch the Worst Witch". The story seemed disjointed and the acting was subpar. It felt like the filmmakers were trying to capitalize on the success of other witch-themed movies, but failed to bring anything new or interesting to the table. The CGI was also pretty lackluster and took away from the overall viewing experience. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good witch-themed film.
2. Robert - 1/5 stars - "Watch the Worst Witch" was a complete waste of my time. The plot was predictable and the characters were one-dimensional. The acting was cringe-worthy and I found myself rolling my eyes through most of the movie. The special effects were cheap and the dialogue was cheesy. Save yourself the trouble and skip this one.
