Today, our Southern Caribbean adventure really begins. Rain cut into our afternoon sightseeing plans yesterday, as we planned to walk around Old San Juan and eat a local restaurant. However, we ended up ducking into Señor Frogs which was just next to the Sheraton Old San Juan as it started to storm (and boy did it storm!). There was a break in the rain, so we walked over to the fort that we didn’t get to see last time – San Cristobal.

We wanted to check out new destinations so we chose this cruise for the eastern Caribbean ports of call. The embarkation process was outstanding, best of any cruise we've gone on. Conversely, the disembarkation process was very smooth. The service all throughout was very good. Our room port was very responsive and they worked very hard to get the rooms cleaned on our schedule. Food in the anytime dining was great and service excellent. The Lido deck food was about average. Breakfast was good. We utilized room service a bit more than normal on this trip due to a sprained ankle and it was always prompt and brought with a smile. The ports were great. Beaches on all three islands where we went to beaches were just incredible. We didn't go to beaches in Puerto Rico, but the historical walking tour was very nice. I wish we had more time in Puerto Rico to see some of the museums. I would not recommend Reggae Beach in St. Kitts simply because it gets way too crowded and service really suffers. The beach and the place we went were great, but if they don't have the personnel to even get you a drink, I don't want to be there. Jack's Shack on Grand Turk is nice enough. Maho Beach in St Maarten is a must visit.

I had a terrible experience at the Wyndham Castaic Six Flags Magic hotel. The staff was unhelpful and rude, and the rooms were dirty and poorly maintained. The walls were paper-thin, and I could hear every noise from the neighboring rooms. The pool was overcrowded and dirty, and the gym equipment was broken. Overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel as it was a disappointing and unpleasant experience.
