I really enjoyed this short story about Ellie James, a homeless witch, whose powers are not particularly great. She doesn't have any real power and is struggling to get buy on doing tarot readings in the park. Luckily for her. her foster sister helps out as much as she can bringing food parcels every so often. Her foster parents, on the other hands, want nothing to do with her and had kicked her out when her magic surfaced.

When her sister goes missing, the only person left to call on for help is Ellie and her foster mother does so very reluctantly. And not having any real power and no leads, Ellie relies on the help of dark witch Jared Adams, who wants to try and teach her some of the basics of witchcraft, but can she trust him to help her? Can she trust him not to do something evil with his dark magic? Why is he so determined to help her in the first place?

A fun, quick read, but definitely left me wanting to read more about Ellie James!
