The Occult and Alexandria's Intellectual Elite: Ancient Scholars and their Esoteric Pursuits

Alexandria, the ancient city in Egypt, known for its rich history and diverse culture, was also an important center for various occult practices. These occult practices in Alexandria were deeply rooted in the city's blend of different cultures, religions, and philosophies. One of the most prominent occult practices in Alexandria was the worship of Egyptian deities. The city's strategic location made it an important hub for trade and cultural exchange, resulting in the fusion of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman religious beliefs. As a result, many Egyptians in Alexandria continued to venerate their ancient gods, such as Isis, Osiris, and Horus. These deities were believed to possess mystical powers, and their worship involved rituals, spells, and divination.

Magical Massage & Inspiration Gallery is just that.
I am a local who frequents this place because of the quality of the customer service, the products, and the services. For an amazing couples massage, it's the only place in town. For beautiful, one-of-a-kind art, especially the jewelry created by Carolyn Manzi, local artists, author, and magic-maker extraordinaire, this is it! Magical and Inspirational! I'll be returning again and again.

This past weekend, I had the inordinate pleasure of getting a massage with Carolyn at Magical Massage and Inspiration Gallery. My fiancé and I were up in the area trying to deal with wedding vendor madness, and on the verge of emotional collapse, I begged him to take me to MMIG. where we had popped in some weeks before to see if they could accommodate me and my bridesmaids for a little pre-wedding pampering (and yes, they can do that!) I was worried that they wouldn't be able to take me on such short notice (their cute little sign says by appointment or coincidence,) and, serendipitously, the AMAZING Carolyn was available.

The moment I walked in, I felt less frazzled. They have created such a peaceful space. the place is inside a gigantic wine barrel, which is beyond cool, with a quaint shop of curiosities, trinkets and lotions up front to browse while you wait. Carolyn immediately put me at ease, listened to my wedding planning woes, suggested I try the Barrel Tasting (which was exactly what I needed,) and then proceeded to give me the most wonderful, relaxing massage. I fell asleep, which is saying a lot since I have been so wound up lately. She really has a grounding way about her, and the massage was excellent. But beyond that, after my treatment, she took time from her personal time (I was a late appointment,) and made helpful suggestions about where to do a rehearsal dinner on a budget and vendors in the area (she even called me later to give me a little guidance, just to be extra nice!)

Not only is Magical Massage and Inspiration Gallery lovely and Carolyn's massage excellent, but Carolyn is a wonderfully sweet person who goes out of her way for someone who is practically a stranger. That is just the kind of locally run business I want to support. And hopefully, some of you yelpers out there will, too :)

First Timer! My experience was excellent. I was here last May 19 with my Mom and my 2 siblings and we love it. The best massage for 2 in a wine barrel. The ladies were very friendly and accommodating.

Magical Massage is MAGICAL! Me and 2 of my friends went for a massage and at first I was surprised that we would all be in the same room, but within 2 minutes I forgot where I was. MARTHA was awesome! Carolyn was so welcoming and kind to accomodate us. PLUS, they have some awesome jewelry and spa items in the front to complete your zen experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!

An unforgettable experience, to be sure! So much so, that I savor it for as long as possible, and then begin to dream about when I can go back!! Carolyn and Martha are masterful, delightful, and professional. No detail is overlooked. Their techniques and skills are second to none. If you want a true "magical" massage experience, in the most unique and fabulous setting (a GIANT wine barrel!!), this is the place for you! Their prices are great, their energy is perfect, and this is a joy not to be missed. PERFECT gift to give, too. or be given! (Their Gift Certificates are whimsically artful, too!)

Reviews for "The Rituals of Isis: Worship and Occult Practices in Ancient Alexandria"

1. Sarah - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Occult Practices in Alexandria". The author claims to provide a comprehensive look at occult practices in ancient Alexandria, but instead, it felt like a collection of random facts with no clear structure. The book lacked coherence and failed to deliver on its promise to explore the topic in depth. I found myself constantly flipping through the pages in search of meaningful information, but unfortunately, it was few and far between. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone seeking a thorough understanding of occult practices in Alexandria.
2. Mark - 1/5 stars - "Occult Practices in Alexandria" was a complete waste of time and money. 3. Emily - 2/5 stars - As someone with a genuine curiosity about occult practices, I was excited to delve into "Occult Practices in Alexandria". Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The book lacked depth and failed to adequately explain the significance of various practices in the context of ancient Alexandria. Additionally, the author's biases were evident throughout the text, which hindered my ability to trust the information provided. While there were some interesting tidbits here and there, overall, the book felt disjointed and left me wanting more substantial content.

The author relied heavily on speculation and conjecture without providing any solid evidence or references to back up the claims made. The book lacked credibility and felt more like a work of fiction rather than a well-researched exploration of historical occult practices. I would caution anyone considering reading this book to approach it with skepticism and to seek out more reliable sources for a truly accurate understanding of occult practices in Alexandria.
